So far I've been satisfied. Took my vehicle (Phaeton) to have the battery changed (starter battery). The trunk lid could easily be opened electrically before the replacement. After replacing the battery, the lid no longer opened electrically. Conclusion ATU: The shock absorbers of the trunk hinges have too much play, are misunderstood and therefore the lid no longer closes completely.
Funny, before changing the battery the game was ok with a weak battery.
The trunk lid mechanism needs to be trained. I expect a workshop that accepts my car to return it to me fully functional and not to tell the customer that he has to go to VW to replace the shock absorbers. You could also take out the shock absorber in question and check whether it still stops halfway. For me, this visit to the workshop was a complete disappointment. Guess that's it for ATU for me.
Addition:
As described, everything was ok before the battery change. After the change, the lid no longer closed, only with effort. I was told that I had to take the vehicle to the manufacturer and that there was nothing they could do about it.
I have a 4+ warranty card from the manufacturer, which means a 20% discount. (Repair without discount 2500 euros). In the end, repairing the lid mechanism still cost me 2000 euros (!!!). The battery change at ATU was just over 200 euros. In total 2200 euros. Changing the battery at the manufacturer would have cost 650 euros. Everyone can calculate the difference themselves. Ultimately, 1550 euros (including manufacturer discount) was the money that ATU cost me more.
Addition:
Today I was at ATU again because the branch is on the way. I had summer tires on rims in the trunk and on the back seats. I ordered 2 winter tires online from ATU. The tires on the front axle should be replaced with the 2 new ones. Appointment at 12:45 p.m., according to the order it should be ready at 1:45 p.m. Finally it was 2:15 p.m
I had an appointment to change the tires, i.e. the front axle wheels both had to come off anyway. The car was on the lift. My idea: If the front wheels have to come off anyway, then you could change the two rear ones at the same time.
The ATU employee at reception said that for the additional "effort" of changing the two rear winter wheels for the summer wheels, I would have had to leave the car there until 5 p.m. It didn't work, I'm handicapped and can't walk that far to the subway. And I couldn't wait 4 hours either.
The car is on the lift without front wheels. When I told the mechanic to take two summer tires out of the car and screw them on instead of the two new winter tires, he thought it made sense if I wanted to switch to summer tires anyway. I told him I would change the rear wheels myself at home. I thought his suggestion that since the car was on stage anyway, he could change the two rear wheels at the same time (less than 10 minutes of work) was great.
At 2:15 p.m. the car was outside in the parking lot with 4 winter wheels. The mechanic was on a cigarette break.
When I spoke to him, he said that his boss said that only the front winter tires would be changed, but no front and rear wheels would be changed. Although the front wheels were already down anyway.
After the ATU damage of 2500 euros, I would have expected a little more customer friendliness. 10 minutes is probably too long for customer satisfaction. But cigarette breaks are ok.
My criticism is not aimed at the mechanic, he was ok. But to the management or the bosses.
With my VW I will avoid this branch in the future and asked that my car be removed from the customer list.

In Summe 2200 Euro. Ein Batteriewechsel beim Hersteller hätte 650 Euro gekostet. Die Differenz kann sich jeder selbst ausrechnen. 1550 Euro (inkl.
