(Translated by Google) I had made an appointment for a wheel alignment because when I was changing my tires I was told that my tires were wearing very irregularly.
I was offered a time slot in the app, but in the branch it was explained to me that this was more of a daily appointment and would be scheduled when there was time. This wasn't a problem for me, so I left the car there.
The on-site handling was friendly and made a good impression.
Now we come to the tricky part. I received a call about three hours later saying that a wheel alignment currently doesn't make sense because the tie rod end on the front left tire is deflecting.
79 euros would now become something like 300-400 euros.
I told them that I should go along with this, but then I was “lucky” that the parts had to be ordered first, so I picked up the car without having to measure the wheels or change the tie rod ends. Since I didn't know when I would have time to hand in the car again, I shared this information with my workshop. Since they had just changed the brakes, "it would probably have been noticed" and my workshop offered me that I could have it done by him and come over spontaneously. Handed it in and received a call 3 hours later saying you couldn't figure out what it meant. Both front heads and the rest are in good condition. He even showed me what a "knocked out" head looks like to give me a comparison. In addition to this free diagnosis, he gave me a workshop that then made my track adjustments.
3 of the 4 wheels were out of the norm and some were very asymmetrical, especially on the rear tires (here one could actually have complained about a small thing, which is still just within the norm, but would actually have been an "upselling" point, but only with that Wheel alignment would have come out.
CONCLUSION:
So I want to assume that maybe my car was mixed up and the report was mixed up or a slightly slanted rubber was interpreted as a knocked out head. Nor is it that the wheel alignment offer is a kind of bait-and-switch offer, as you can “up-sell” here. Because I can't imagine that you would intentionally offer a customer something that has to be changed within half an hour in order to drive up the bill. Nevertheless, this whole process has cost me a lot of time overall.
Therefore, I deducted one star from 5 for the time I spent and 1 1/2 stars for the unfortunate diagnosis and half a star for the incorrect website in relation to the dates (as far as I understand, this criticism goes more towards ATU Germany) . I found the appointment scheduling in principle (except for the point mentioned above) and the demeanor in the workshop to be professional, for which I get one star. I get another star for the fact that the "diagnosis" didn't cost any more, even if I didn't make a follow-up appointment immediately.
If a wheel alignment needs to be done again, I would, based on the current status, possibly visit a competitor in the immediate vicinity.
Dear ATU Google Team, I think it's good that you want to "discuss" the reviews with customers. Please try to vary your copy & paste texts a little and, if necessary, address the issue directly here. Most people write directly what their problem was. Then it's best to address it directly here. Then the reviewer doesn't have to explain the facts to you again. Because in a bad case, you justify yourself, that doesn't help the reviewer and if you give useful information, it will help you if you share it publicly!
Update 2.3.24: ATU does not read the reviews, but has either a bot or a cops paste content manager. That's why I'm deducting another star.
(Original)
